(Ponce) –Intellectus Foundation opened new facilities at the historical heart of Ponce.  Together with scholarship holders from medical school, non-for-profit organizations and the foundation’s Board of Trustees were able to share their interest in collaborating with each other to create new alliances. Also present were representatives of Cristo Pobre (a center for homeless people), Amor que Sana, the Thomas Armstrong Toro Specialized School and Ponce Health Sciences University.

In order to create a strong collaboration that promotes both scientific education and better health services for the community, it is important to create a common space for the participants. The Foundation seeks to work as a coordination and support center between all the organizations and students. Important efforts to have more health professionals, better medical care and more scientific resources available to the community in the long run include: supporting medical academic careers in Ponce, collaborating with health and scientific research and stimulating science interest in middle schoolers and high schoolers.
