Scientific Research Scholarship

The objective of this scholarship is to encourage students to carry out or participate in scientific research during their medical career.

The scholarship consists of financial aid to cover part, or all, of the expenses associated with the research that you carry out or in which you participate. The amount of aid awarded will depend on the needs demonstrated by the student up to a maximum of $5,000 per research. The Foundation may award four (4) or more scholarships annually until the available funds are exhausted, reaching $20,000 by the year 2024.

REQUIREMENTS TO APPLY

  • Been a medicine student at one of the four (4) medicine schools in Puerto Rico.
  • Submit a letter of recommendation from a professor linked to the research.
  • Present the budget needed to carry out the research or participate in it.
  • Submit an essay explaining how this scientific research provides medical knowledge, improves sanitary health conditions in Puerto Rico, and adds value to your medical career.

HOW TO APPLY?

The application is made electronically and applications will be accepted until the available funds are exhausted.

SCHOLARSHIP EVALUATION

  • Only complete applications will be evaluated by the Scholarship Committee. That includes those that have sent all the information as detailed in “Requirements to apply.”
  • The Scholarship Committee of Fundación Intellectus will evaluate the merits of the applications and make recommendations to the Board of Directors of the Institution for your ratification.
  • The Foundation will notify applicants of the acceptance or denial of the scholarship within a period of 30 days from the date the application is received.
