Health Research

La beca está dirigida a estudiantes de medicina, ciencias e ingeniería, en diferentes niveles universitarios, que estén desarrollando proyectos o iniciativas tecnológicas con potencial de generar un impacto positivo en los procedimientos de salud, la prevención de enfermedades y el bienestar de las personas. A través de esta iniciativa, CIRACET busca apoyar a jóvenes innovadores que, desde la investigación y la tecnología, estén creando soluciones para los retos actuales y futuros de la salud.

The objective of these scholarships is to foster research on health prevention topics conducted by Puerto Rican students and that have the potential to create a positive impact on physical and mental health in Puerto Rico.

These scholarships provide financial assistance to cover part or all of the research costs incurred by the recipients. The amount of funding awarded to each project will depend on the needs outlined in the application.

Corporate Scholarships
Starting in 2025, the Fundación Intellectus is offering the following scholarships in partnership with Puerto Rican corporations committed to supporting local health research.

Alivia Specialty Pharmacy Scholarship
Funded by Alivia Specialty Pharmacy, this scholarship awards $5,000 to Puerto Rican students conducting research in the field of oncology.

Vive Bien Scholarship
In partnership with Puerto Rico Supplies Group, this scholarship awards $5,000 to Puerto Rican students conducting research on diabetes and cardiovascular health.

CIRACET Scholarship
The new $3,000 CIRACET Scholarship aims to foster the development of new technologies that contribute to

transforming and improving healthcare. The scholarship is open to students in medicine, science, and engineering at various university levels who are developing technological projects or initiatives with the potential to positively impact healthcare procedures, disease prevention, and human well-being. Through this initiative, CIRACET seeks to support young innovators who are using research and technology to create solutions for current and future healthcare challenges.

Requirements to apply

  • Be a university student of any level in one of the following fields: nutrition, mental health, public health, or biomedical sciences.
  • Maintain a minimum GPA of 3.50.
  • Submit a recommendation letter from a professor linked to the research.
  • Present the budget of the research and indicate other grants that will support your project. The budget must not include expenses related to travel, conference attendance, or publications.
  • Submit the most recent copy of the academic transcript.
  • Submit an essay explaining how your research can benefit the health of the people in Puerto Rico.

How to apply?

The request is made electronically and the opening is between September 15 and October 15 of each year.

Scholarship evaluation

  • Only complete applications will be evaluated by the Scholarship Committee. That includes those that have sent all the information as detailed in “Requirements to apply”.
  • The Scholarship Committee of Fundación Intellectus will evaluate the applications and make recommendations to the Board of Directors of the Institution for your ratification.
  • Fundación Intellectus will notify applicants of the acceptance or denial of the scholarship between the months of November and December of each year.
